Hunter lost in Houghton County located

DUNCAN TOWNSHIP, MI--   A downstate hunter who became lost in Houghton County has been found.  

Sheriff’s deputies say Joe Burns, 25, of Sterling Heights was in the area of Duncan Township’s Bowstead Lake around 2:50 p.m. Sunday when he lost his way.  He was located at approximately 5:30 p.m. by a Michigan State Police K-9 unit. 

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Department of Natural Resources, the Houghton County ORV Patrol, the Duncan Township Fire Department, and the Houghton County Civil Air Patrol. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
