MARQUETTE, MI-- This year’s firearm deer hunting season looks like it will be a good one in the Upper Peninsula.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources anticipates a slightly better hunting season than last year’s. More than 540,000 hunters participated in the hunt in 2019. As many or more are expected for this year’s November 15 firearm opener. The DNR is asking hunters to review changes to deer hunting regulations.
There are also changes to Chronic Wasting Disease testing this year. Deer heads from the core CWD surveillance area in the U.P. will be accepted for testing through January 4. Heads from Dickinson County will be accepted November 15-18 only.
