Identity of woman involved in Houghton County crash released

OSCEOLA TOWNSHIP, MI--   Police have released the name of the woman killed in a single-vehicle crash in Osceola Township Sunday.

Troopers from the Calumet Post say Dianne McCollum, 48, of Calumet, suffered a fatal medical event that caused her to veer off of US-41 near Highway Location Road and hit a tree.  A small fire that started under the car was immediately extinguished by a volunteer firefighter.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are considered factors in the accident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
