Injuries reported in Munising Township house fire

UPDATE, 2:00 p.m.:    State Police from the Munising detachment say the people affected by the fire are Gaylord McArthur, 30, Barbara McGee, 24, Brian McGee, 6, Arianna McArthur, 4, and Alia McArthur, 3.

The fire is believed to have started near a wood stove.  Officials say one of the children woke up from smoke in her room and alerted the others.  As fire spread through the home the occupants escaped through a rear window.

Once outside the family discovered four-year-old Arianna was still inside the burning structure.  Gaylord McArthur went back into the house, located Arianna, broke a window on the north side of the mobile home, and threw her out into the snow.  He then exited through the same window.

Officials say he likely saved her life.

Gaylord and Arianna remain at Marquette General Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
