Interview with Marlene Wood & Ben Pawlowski, Art Week 2021

Kurt Hauswirth

From Plein Air painting to Analog Photo Filters, there are events for every person at Art Week. As a part of the City of Marquette's 2021 Art Week events, we had two guests in our studios (Artist Marlene Wood and Artist/Educator Ben Pawlowski) to speak about special events and installations planned and spread throughout Marquette during Art Week.

Marlene is a seasoned artist in the Upper Great Lakes, who leads "Reuniting," a community art project at Mattson Lower Harbor Park. She also will be involved with plein air painting throughout the week.

Ben is one half of Shape and Sound Arts Academy (along with Patrick Booth), which provides art education to youth. They will host different interactive events, like Analog Photo Filters and the Animation Jam.

Kurt lives in Marquette with his family and can’t imagine living anywhere else. He loves music, games, running, being near water, and a fine cold brew coffee.
