BATES TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Iron River woman has been killed in a traffic accident involving a plow.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post say the crash happened around 6:15 Wednesday morning on US-2 and Sunset Lake Road in Bates Township.  They say 49-year-old Kristine McKinzey lost control of her vehicle on the snowy and slippery roadway, crossed into the path of a county plow truck, and was hit.

The driver of the plow, 22-year-old Ethan Amerson of Iron River, was not injured.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Iron River Police Department, MSP Motor Carrier Division, the West Iron County Fire Department and Northstar EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
