Iron Mountain crash results in arrest

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   An Iron Mountain man was arrested after police suspected him of driving under the influence of drugs.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post were called Saturday around 3 p.m. to US-141 at the intersection of Breitung Cutoff Road in Breitung Township.  A 57-year-old Iron Mountain man attempted to turn onto the highway and pulled into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Channing, Michigan woman. 

A female passenger in the first vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Dickinson County Hospital with a possible neck injury. The occupants of the second vehicle were taken to the hospital with only minor injuries. 

The Iron Mountain man was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
