Iron River man charged in crash

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--    An Iron River man arrested after an accident that injured a Watersmeet woman has been charged. 

Theodore Tschannen, 63, was exiting his driveway Monday afternoon when he struck a vehicle westbound on US-2. The woman had to be extricated from her vehicle using the “jaws of life.”

Tschannen was arraigned on charges of operating while intoxicated, causing serious injury; operating with a high blood alcohol content, 3rd offense; and open intoxicants, a misdemeanor.

A preliminary hearing is set for December 4 in Iron County District Court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
