Ironwood remains identified

IRONWOOD, MI--   Officials have released the identity of the remains found March 20 in an Ironwood house slated for demolition.

Ironwood Public Safety says Gerald Glen Thompson, 80, was discovered in the house during an inspection before it was torn down as a city eyesore. The house is on a list scheduled for demolition under Michigan’s Hardest Hit blight grant program.

Officials do not believe foul play was involved in Thompson’s death.

The incident remains under investigation.
