Ishpeming man arrested for stealing items from Marquette vehicles

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette Police have arrested an Ishpeming man for breaking into vehicles on the East side of Marquette.

Saturday around 3 a.m. a citizen reported she’d seen someone entering vehicles on the 400 block of East Crescent Street.  Officers arrived and saw the suspect inside a pickup truck.  The man fled, but after a pursuit on foot police caught and arrested him.

Investigation indicates Jesse Jay Croschere, 21, of Ishpeming had been going into unlocked vehicles and stealing valuable items.  He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Police say they receive numerous such complaints each year, and 99 percent of the time the targeted vehicles are unlocked.  Officers encourage residents to lock their vehicles at all times and refrain from keeping valuables inside.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
