Ishpeming snowmobiler missing in Marquette County

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing snowmobiler. 

Dennis Pellinen, 54, of Ishpeming left his secondary home on County Road 444 in McFarland Sunday around 6 p.m. He has not been seen since and didn’t show up for work on Monday.

Pellinen was driving a blue and gray 2003 SRX Yamaha snowmobile. He was wearing a black Carhartt jacket. Deputies believe he was not wearing a helmet when he left.

Marquette County Special Operations, Search and Rescue, Delta County Search and Rescue and the Michigan State Police are involved in the search.

Anyone with information regarding Pellinen’s whereabouts is asked to call Central Dispatch at 475-9912.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
