Ishpeming woman pleads to driving drunk

MARQUETTE, MI--   A sentencing date has been set for an Ishpeming woman who pleaded guilty to hitting a State Police car in Chocolay Township while driving drunk. 

Carol Saari, 38, pleaded to driving while intoxicated and driving with an open intoxicant last week.  She faces up to six months in jail. 

Sentencing is set for May 4.

Saari’s vehicle collided with a patrol car that was conducting a traffic stop on M-28 near Kawbawgam Road.  No one was injured in the crash.   

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
