The threats were called in to North Star Academy, Sawyer International Airport, the Sawyer Medical Center, Northern Michigan University, and Marquette General Hospital on Friday.

Deputies say the suspect’s identity was discovered shortly after the threat to the Medical Center was received.  The juvenile was taken into custody, then transported to Marquette General Hospital for psychiatric treatment.

Officials say the identity of the suspect will not be released.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad, Marquette Township Fire and Rescue, the Forsyth Township Fire and Police Departments, Marquette County Rescue Unit 131, and the Escanaba Public Safety Explosive Detection K-9.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
