Kirschner sentenced on arson charge

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   A Crystal Falls woman arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed an Iron County camp last October has been sentenced.

Rachael Kirschner, 25, was arrested along with Troy Evert, 21, of Crystal Falls in February. They were charged with 2nd-degree arson, conspiracy to commit

2nd-degree arson, and lying to a peace officer.

Kirschner was sentenced Tuesday to 15 months to 20 years in prison for 2nd-degree arson. Evert was sentenced earlier to 20 months to 20 years in prison on the same charge.

The cabin on Fortune Lake in Crystal Falls Township was destroyed.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
