Lawsuit against Rep. Cambensy tossed

MARQUETTE, MI--   A lawsuit brought by a company against state Representative Sara Cambensy has been dismissed.

LaSalle Enterprises, LLC said Cambensy owed $5,690 for campaign management services rendered. In October of 2017 she paid LaSalle $3,750, and when she refused to pay the higher amount, LaSalle sued.

An appointed three-attorney panel ruled the $3,750 payment was sufficient, and the company cashed the check last week.

The services were rendered during Cambensy’s campaign to fill the 109th District House seat vacated by John Kivela.

“I’m relieved this frivolous lawsuit is over," Cambensy said. "I felt the amount of money LaSalle Enterprises wanted from me was exorbitant for the short time we worked together and the job tasks they performed. I take the role of protecting my campaign money and the donors who gave to me very seriously, and I’m pleased the amount of $3,750 that I tried to pay LaSalle Enterprises last fall was deemed fair by the judicial system and final.”
