Man arrested in Forsyth Township on 74-count child porn-related warrant

MARQUETTE, MI--   A former Marquette resident has been arrested on several child pornography charges.

The Marquette Police Department says Thursday around 4:30 p.m. Edward James Charboneau, 49, was arrested at a house on Eagle Street in Forsyth Township. The Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a 74-count felony warrant against him. It includes 35 counts of child sexually abusive activity, 2 counts of child sexually abusive material – aggravated possession, and 37 counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

The warrant stems from a lengthy investigation initially reported as an embezzlement from a local organization. During the investigation digital devices were seized and suspected child pornography was found on them.

Charboneau remains lodged at the Marquette County Jail on a $740,000 bond.

Marquette Police were assisted by the Forsyth Township Police Department and the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
