Man involved in multi-state chase identified

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A Crystal Falls man has been arraigned for leading Michigan and Wisconsin police on a high-speed chase.

Friday afternoon the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Marinette County officials that deputies were pursuing a red pickup truck on US-141.  They indicated the driver, Michael Santi, 51, was headed into Michigan.

Dickinson County deputies deployed stop sticks.  Santi’s truck hit the sticks, lost control, struck some vehicles, and hit a tree.

Santi is charged with second-degree fleeing and eluding a police officer and resisting and obstructing a police officer.

A probable cause hearing is set for December 29.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
