Man killed in Harris, suspect in custody

HARRIS, MI--   Michigan State Police are investigating a homicide in Menominee County Tuesday. 

Troopers from the Gladstone Post were dispatched to a residence in Harris around 12:30 p.m. Investigation revealed a man appeared to have died as a result of foul play.

His name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The Marquette Crime Lab was contacted and responded to the scene. State Police are investigating the death as a homicide and have a suspect in custody. They say they have no reason to believe any other suspects are at large.

Bark River-Harris and Hannahville Indian schools were locked down during the investigation.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office, Hannahville Tribal Police, DNR conservation officers and the Harris Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
