Man killed in Munising Township snowmobile crash

MUNISING TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Indiana man has died in a snowmobile accident in Alger County.

State Police from the Munising detachment say the crash happened Wednesday around 5 p.m. on H-13 near the Hiawatha National Forest Wide Waters Campground access road in Munising Township.

Troopers say Steve Short, 57, of Fort Wayne was southbound on H-13 when he lost control of his snowmobile.  The machine crossed the roadway, struck a snowbank, and overturned.  Short was thrown from the machine and suffered fatal injuries.

Officials say speed was a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
