Man killed in Sagola Township accident

SAGOLA TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person has died in a two-vehicle crash on M-95 in Dickinson County. 

Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post responded Monday around 9:20 a.m. to the intersection on M-69 West in Sagola Township.

A vehicle driven by a 62-year-old Wisconsin man failed to yield for a tanker truck heading north on M-95. The tanker hit the vehicle and pushed it about 550 feet north of the intersection and into the ditch.

The driver of the tanker truck was a 36-year-old Wisconsin man. He was not hurt in the crash. The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
