Man who caused multi-vehicle pileup in Iron Mountain pleads guilty

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A Norway man arrested for his role in a seven-vehicle crash in Iron Mountain has accepted a plea agreement.

Harvey Bennett, 64, was originally charged with delivery/manufacture of meth, possession of meth, operating while intoxicated—3rd-offense, and being a habitual offender—4th-offense. He has pleaded guilty to delivery/manufacture of meth and the OWI charge. The other charges were dropped as part of the agreement.

Bennett is accused of causing the September accident on US-2 near H Street, then leaving the scene. He allegedly hid a bag and a metal container in a nearby business, then returned to the crash site.

Police arrested Bennett after he showed signs of intoxication.

Sentencing is set for February 4 in Dickinson County Circuit Court.
