A vehicle driven by Sarah Smith, 27, of Marquette, was westbound on Grove and stopped at a red light. She then tried to turn left onto McClellan and struck a northbound vehicle driven by Brian Johnson, 74, of Gwinn.

Both drivers were taken to UPHS-Marquette with non-life-threatening injuries.

Smith was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

The Marquette Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
