MARQUETTE, MI-- A Marquette man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.
Last week city police discovered a 28-year-old sex offender was living in town and had failed to register his address. Officers went to the house where the man was staying and discovered a 12-year-old male also living at the residence. After police notified the boy’s family of the suspect’s sex offender status, the victim’s mother brought the boy in, saying her son had been assaulted.
An investigation was launched and a search warrant conducted on the residence. The suspect—identified as Axel Gabriel Acevedo—was arrested for first-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree CSC, and accosting a child for immoral purposes.
Police say the investigation continues and they’re looking for additional possible victims. NMU Public Safety assisted in the case.
