Marquette Township accident injures woman

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Marquette woman has been ticketed for causing an accident in Marquette Township.

Sheriff’s deputies responded Tuesday around 2:15 p.m. to US-41 near Brookton Road. They say Erin Seavoy, 29, of Virginia was making a right turn into the Days Inn parking lot with her station wagon when she was struck by an eastbound Chevy sedan driven by Barbara McNece, 56, of Marquette.

McNece was preparing to slow her vehicle but lost control on the snow-covered road and collided with Seavoy’s vehicle.

McNece was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Seavoy was not injured.

McNece was cited for violation of the basic speed limit.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
