MCHD releases coronavirus vaccination plan

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette County Health Department says it will follow CDC guidelines when COVID vaccines are available to the public.

Officials say initially there won’t be enough doses for all adults, so they’ll be administered in a phased approach based on ethical principles.

Under the plan, healthcare personnel and long-term care facility residents would get the first doses, followed by essential workers, adults with high-risk medical conditions and adults 65-years and older.

Officials don’t believe the initial number of doses will be enough for the first phase, so rationing will be needed.

If all goes as expected, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be approved by the FDA and CDC by mid-month. Health officials expect other vaccines will be reviewed and approved next year, as well.
