LANSING, MI-- The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will begin reporting “probable” cases of COVID-19, possibly starting Thursday.
State reporting will now include probable, lab-confirmed, and deaths. That change may result in a significant increase in reported COVID-19 numbers.
Officials say the “probable” category will include those who have mild symptoms of COVID-19 and have met specific exposure criteria, but have not been lab tested as confirmed.
MDHHS officials say the expanded reporting is intended to provide data that may more accurately characterize the COVID-19 outbreak in communities.
