Meth suspect to spend time in prison

MARQUETTE, MI--   A suspect in a Chocolay Township meth bust has been sentenced.

As part of a deal Spencer Emard, 42, pleaded guilty in March to possession of a controlled substance and operating a meth lab.  He was sentenced last week to three to 20 years in prison, and must pay court costs and fines.

Emard represented himself at the hearing.  He was one of three men arrested at a Chocolay Township motel after police discovered meth components in several rooms.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
