MGH gets "check-up"

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette General Hospital CEO Gary Muller has released a six-month “check-up” pertaining to progress the hospital has made since it was acquired by Duke LifePoint.

MGH is taking a four-pronged approach to measuring progress, broken down into the areas of quality, physicians, financial, and facility.  The hospital is using benchmark tools to compare itself with Duke sister hospitals.

Marquette General has identified priority areas of improvement.  They include anesthesia, access to care, process improvement, hospital-based services, physician engagement, and improving patient experience.

Officials also want to focus on expanding the Superior Health Partners base to stop patients from seeking health care outside the region.  Helen Newberry Joy Hospital just joined the partnership, and an announcement on a ninth affiliate hospital will soon be made.

Officials say SHP is also contracting with a national customer service firm to improve patient service at all hospitals, and physician recruitment continues to be a high priority.
