Missing Cherry Creek student found safe

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   A student missing from Cherry Creek School in Chocolay Township has been found. 

Around 5 p.m. Monday Township Police received a report that 10-year-old Andrew McAlpine had disappeared at the school. 

After an extensive search by several agencies McAlpine was found unharmed on school property around 8:30 p.m. 

Assisting in the search were the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette County Search and Rescue, Michigan State Police, Marquette County Central Dispatch, the Forsyth Township Police Department, NMU Public Safety, the FBI, Cherry Creek School staff, and local citizens. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
