More than a dozen Iron County Medical Care Facility residents have coronavirus

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   The Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls says 15 residents tested positive for COVID-19 last week and one more Tuesday. That brings the total number of residents with the coronavirus to 21.

As of Tuesday afternoon 13 employees were also positive. Officials say the outbreak is mostly within the dementia unit and all patients have been quarantined together.

Facility residents and employees are tested at least once a week for COVID, often more frequently.  Residents are screened for symptoms at least three times a day, while employees are screened before they enter the building for their shift.

Officials say they are following all regulations and preventive practices to minimize transmission of COVID.
