MPSC schedules Escanaba public forum on UPPCO integrated resource plan proposal

ESCANABA, MI--   The Michigan Public Service Commission has scheduled a community forum in

Escanaba next month to provide an opportunity for the public to offer their input on UPPCO’s long-term service plans.

All three Commissioners -- Chairman Sally Talberg, Norman Saari, and Daniel Scripps – will attend the May 17 sessions at Bay de Noc Community College, along with MPSC staff.

Chairman Talberg said it is important for the Commission to hear from U.P. residents about Upper Peninsula Power Co.’s integrated resource plan, and the event gives those served by UPPCO a chance to express their views and talk with commissioners and MPSC staff.

The forum will include presentations on UPPCO’s integrated resource plan (Case No. U-20350), which is pending before the Commission.

Event details:

  • What: Community information session.
  • When: 4-5:30 p.m. and 5:45-7 p.m., May 17, 2019.
  • Where: 952 Bays Conference Room in the Joseph Heirman University Center, Bay de Noc Community College, 2001 N. Lincoln Road, Escanaba.
  • Who: Michigan Public Service Commission commissioners and staff.

Formal comments by attendees will become part of the public record and a transcript of the meeting comments will be filed in the case docket. Comments can also be mailed to Executive Secretary, Michigan Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 30221, Lansing, MI 48909, or emailed to mpscedockets@michigan.gov. Please include the case number in correspondence.

Utility-developed integrated resource plans, which are required under the state’s energy laws, map out how companies will meet the future electric needs of their customers.

People who have mobility, visual, hearing, or other disabilities should contact the MPSC’s Executive Secretary at 517-284-8090 in advance of the forum to request assistance.
