Multiple-vehicle crash in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   An elderly Marquette man has been cited for causing a three-vehicle accident in Marquette Township.

Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened Thursday around 1:15 p.m. on US-41 near County Road HIA.  They say 86-year-old Lester Passinault pulled out of Lowes and into the path of a westbound Grand Cherokee driven by 39-year-old Traci Champion of Ishpeming.  The impact of the crash sent the Passinault's vehicle into an eastbound Pontiac G6 driven by 62-year-old Mary Keough of Marquette.

Champion was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  The other drivers sought their own treatment of minor injuries.

Deputies cited Passinault for failure to yield the right-of-way.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
