Music, races and exhibits planned for Upper Peninsula fair

ESCANABA, MI (AP)--   Heavy metal rocker Bret Michaels, country duo Dan + Shay and the 1960s pop group Herman's Hermits will perform from the grandstand during this week's Upper Peninsula State Fair.

The fair runs from Monday through Sunday at the grounds in Escanaba.

Other entertainment will include stock car and mud drag races, a motorcycle exhibition and a Sunday night fireworks display.

The fair also will feature livestock exhibits, an antique car show and a U.S. Army National Guard obstacle course. Other attractions include sand sculptures, chainsaw woodworks and a timber show including skills such as crosscut sawing and log rolling.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will host a "pocket park" with fishing, a shooting range and other activities.
