Names released in fatal Delta County crash

ESCANABA TOWNSHIP, MI--   Officials have released the names of those involved in a fatal accident in Delta County Tuesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 8:45 on County Road 426 about six miles south of Cornell.

Deputies say Ronald Sanville, 47, of Cornell was southbound and didn’t see an unoccupied truck that was stalled and left partially on the roadway.  His truck slammed into the rear end of the parked vehicle, pushing it onto its side into the ditch.

Sanville’s passenger, Lukas Sanville, 19, was killed in the crash.  Ronald Sanville was taken to St. Francis Hospital with head injuries.  He’s reported to be in good condition.

County Road 426 was closed for about three hours while officials cleared the accident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
