ONTONAGON, MI-- The Michigan National Guard is helping the Department of Natural Resources make improvements to Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.
The effort is part of the guard’s Innovative Readiness Training Program, which combines military skills with community resources. The 1432nd Engineer Company will provide the majority of manpower and equipment, while the DNR will provide the raw materials, project scope, and limited equipment.
The partnership will repair roadways, armor an eroding shoreline, update buildings and replace a 100-foot-long culvert.
All involved are observing social distancing and wearing masks when in close proximity of each other.
