Negaunee concession stand damaged, man arrested

NEGAUNEE, MI--   A Negaunee man has been arrested for damaging a concession stand at the Negaunee football field.

City officers were called to the field Sunday around 12:40 a.m.  A witness said a dark-color pickup truck was observed fleeing the scene after crashing into the stand.  Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Everett Street and took Gerald Potvin, 33, into custody.

Police claim Potvin’s truck turned north onto south Hungerford Avenue and continued its left turn, crossed the road, went over the curb and sidewalk, and struck the eastern wall of the stand.  There was considerable damage to the building.

Potvin is charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failing to report an accident.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
