Negaunee High School bridge builders do well in competition

GRAND RAPIDS, MI--   Two Negaunee High School teams have made their marks at an annual bridge building competition downstate.

The Michigan Design and Build Bridge Challenge is sponsored by the Michigan Department of Transportation. Teams from grades 7-12 build miniature bridges using balsa wood, glue, and string. They were tested for strength and design, and students made presentations before a panel of judges.

Tuesday Team Bridge Builders of Negaunee came in second place in the 11th and 12th grade category, while Team Negaunee Bridge Builders came in fourth.

The second-place team has been invited to the Transportation and Civil Engineering Program National Bridge Challenge in mid-May in Franklin, Tennessee.
