Negaunee restaurant robbed at gunpoint

NEGAUNEE, MI--   Negaunee Police are investigating an armed robbery at Irontown Pasties.

They say Tuesday around 9:48 p.m. a masked male suspect entered the restaurant, which was occupied by a lone female employee. He brandished a handgun and demanded money from the register. The suspect fled on foot with approximately $475.

A description given by the employee and video surveillance from the restaurant led to identification of a suspect. He was found at an Ishpeming residence and taken into custody around 2:13 Wednesday morning.

The suspect is lodged at the Marquette County Jail on unrelated charges. His name is being withheld pending the authorization of charges by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.

Anyone who may have witnessed the suspect entering or leaving Irontown pasties or has any information regarding the incident is asked to call Negaunee Police at 475-4154.
