NMU promotes riding during Bike Week

MARQUETTE, MI--   It’s Bike Week at Northern Michigan University.

The second annual event is designed to promote health, safety and sustainability in a bike-friendly environment. Officials hope to increase ridership and improve bicycle commuting habits for faculty, staff, students and the community with programs throughout the week.

“Tune Up Tuesday” features a bike ride with Wildcat Willy at 2 p.m. At 5 p.m. Wednesday participants can ride to the Marquette Farmer’s Market. It’s Bike to Campus Day on Thursday, which features a Night Ride at 7:30 p.m. And on Friday the NMU Cycling Club is sponsoring a Group Bike Ride at 6:30 p.m.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
