NMU student passes, flag lowered

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University’s flag is lowered again Friday to commemorate the passing of a student.

Jimmy St. Cyr, 21, passed away on Sunday. He was pursuing a degree in nursing with a minor in chemistry. St. Cyr was involved in research at NMU’s Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Research Center, and was also active in Catholic Campus Ministry.

The NMU flag is lowered to half-staff and campus messages are sent after the passing of current students, faculty, and staff and after consultation with immediate family.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
