Officials closing M-28 because of weather

UPDATE, 1/27  11:30 a.m.:   Officials have reopened M-28 as of 11:30 a.m.

____________

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Alger County Sheriff's Office is closing M-28 between Munising and Marquette because of bad weather conditions.

Deputies say the stretch will be blocked off at 9 p.m. Sunday.  Motorists will be redirected to M-94 as an alternate route.

Snow and blowing snow are creating whiteout conditions, making travel on M-28 extremely hazardous.

A blizzard warning is in effect for Alger County until noon Monday.

Public Radio 90 will provide updates as they become available.
