One man injured in Big Bay de Noc boat collision

DELTA COUNTY, MI--   A Delta County man is hospitalized, following a boating accident on Big Bay de Noc. 

The county sheriff’s office says Monday around 6:35 p.m. a 33-foot pleasure vessel operated by Richard Ranguette of Garden was traveling off Fairport when he struck an 18-foot fishing boat operated by Gregory Frazier of Rock.

Two passengers from the Ranguette vessel boarded Frazier’s boat and gave him first aid until emergency personnel arrived on the scene.  Frazier was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, where he remains in fair condition. 

No one on the Ranguette boat was injured.

Frazier’s vessel sustained heavy damage, while Ranguette’s sustained minor damage. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
