The appointment was made to fill a partial term after Judge Jeffrey Barstow stepped down April 1. The current term expires January 1, 2021, and Jamo will have to run for reelection in November of 2020 if he wishes to seek a full, six-year term.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
