Parts of Isle Royale beginning to open

ISLE ROYALE NATIONAL PARK--   Officials with Isle Royale National Park say overnight anchoring for boats is now being allowed at the island.

Boaters will need to get an anchoring permit in advance from the Houghton Visitor Center and pay entrance fees in advance, as well. All park facilities—including docks, trails, visitor centers, campgrounds, shelters, and outhouses—remain closed at this time.

Details on further opening of the park, tentatively scheduled for later this month, will be released as decisions are made.
