Police arrest man for role in Iron Mountain crashes

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A man has been arrested for causing a seven-vehicle crash in Iron Mountain.

The Iron Mountain Police and Fire Departments were dispatched Wednesday around 2:20 p.m. to US-2 near H Street. Officials say a white Dodge pickup driven by a 63-year-old man was northbound when it crossed into the left-turn lane, sideswiped two cars and rear-ended an SUV. The collision pushed the SUV into three other vehicles waiting at the light.

Two drivers were taken to Dickinson County Healthcare System for precautionary measures.

The 63-year-old man was arrested for suspected operating under the influence of drugs. His name has been withheld, pending arraignment.

The accident remains under investigation.
