CASPIAN, MI--   A Caspian woman with dementia is safe, after she walked away from her home Thursday afternoon.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 12:20 p.m. that the 62-year-old woman had wandered from her house on East Caspian Avenue. Deputies initiated a search, along with Iron County Search and Rescue, Michigan State Police, the Iron River Police Department, and the Caspian Police Department.

The woman was found around 2:50 p.m. about a mile from her home. She was walking on an ATV trail between Caspian and Iron River. Authorities say she was found in good physical condition and was returned to her husband.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
