Police officer found at fault in Munising crash

MUNISING, MI--   A Munising Police squad car was involved in a traffic crash in the city Wednesday.

Department officials say it happened around 4:45 p.m. on West Munising Avenue near Commercial Street. Investigation determined the patrol car was westbound when the driver pulled onto the shoulder and attempted a U-turn.

The squad car drove into the path of a minivan driven by a 52-year-old man from Walled Lake, Michigan. The crash caused major damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the minivan received minor injuries. He was treated at the scene and released.

The Munising officer was found at fault in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
