Police warn residents not to cash that PCH check

CALUMET, MI--   Residents in the Calumet area who receive a letter from Publisher’s Clearing House saying they’ve won cash should be extremely careful.

Michigan State Police say it’s likely a scam. Troopers have received reports saying the mailings include a check to allegedly cover taxes, legal fees and administrative fees. Instructions advise the recipient to contact a claims manager before depositing the check.

State Police say the mailings are not from Publisher’s Clearing House, the enclosed check is not legitimate, and no winnings will be awarded to the addressee. Troopers advise the public to discard any of the mailings and not to call the contact numbers provided.
