Preliminary hearing to be held for bow and arrow suspect

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Hancock man accused of shooting another man with a compound bow and arrow is headed to court. 

James Walters, 58, is charged with attempted murder in the February 13 assault on Summit Street in Hancock.  Police say he shot a 56-year-old man in the shoulder after an alcohol-fueled disagreement. 

Walters remains lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

His preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
