Pretrial hearing set for accused Manistique shooter

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A man suspected of shooting at people in a Manistique park earlier this month has been bound over to Schoolcraft County Circuit Court.  

Jacob Volk, 17, is accused of firing at three people at Central Park June 5.  He’s charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and one count felony firearm.

Volk waived his preliminary exam Wednesday and was bound over to circuit court. 

A pretrial hearing is set for July 9. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
